Ruidoso Roadtrip '08

Some things about growing up totally suck.

Like increased responsibilities, lack of sleep, more homework, having to get a job, attempting to establish independence, figuring out how to pay for school and trying to convince your parents that they can't control you like they want to anymore...

However, on the other hand, some things about growing up totally rock.

Like being able to go on a road trip with your best friends sans parents.

What and awesome feeling. To know that you can just pack up, jump in a car and take off.

And thank the good Lord that Kaitlin has a beautiful house in a secluded New Mexico town right by an amazing ski resort AND generous parents who love us all enough to pay for everything.

God is so good to us.

We took a week before we all went back to school and stress and work and just got away to relax and spend some time together. It was great, and we fully intend to do it again.

We drove up Monday and got settled in and did some grocery shopping.
Tuesday we spent in town walking around and shopping, then playing Catchphrase and watching The Office on DVD.
Wednesday morning was the start of an interesting day.

Jessica and I decided Tuesday night to eat some salsa that had been in the fridge when we arrived at the cabin. We couldn't find the expiration date and the jar was already open, but the salsa smelled/looked/tasted just fine. So we had a little snack.

Oohhh did we pay for that mistake.

Wednesday morning dawned with Michael and Kaitlin getting ready to go skiing only to find Jessica and I laying on the bathroom floor sufficiently nauseated and in our pajamas.
It was quite a silly picture.
But they took good care of us and eventually got us up and onto the couch for the rest of the day.

But by Thursday we felt well enough to hit the slopes which was amazing.
I'm not the skiing fiend that Michael is, but I haven't fallen yet and I've been three times now.
We drove back Friday.

I can't wait to go again!!

My birthday is Sunday and I move back into DBU Monday.
Classes start Tuesday.
